Day 6 – Wedding Food Tasting

I arrived at Sean’s home in Mount Pleasant, SC late last night and the dogs and I settled in quickly. In the morning, I dropped my car off to get a second key made (the end of my self-induced punishment for losing the key fob). Then Sean, Sabrina (his fiancé), and I drove to the Seabrook Island Golf Club, just south of Charleston, to see the oceanfront venue for their wedding in October. We were joined by their friends, Hanna and Cody (members of the wedding party) for a food tasting session at the clubhouse reception area. The golf course and clubhouse were beautiful, and the food was delicious! I posted pictures of the three of us at the clubhouse, and the oceanfront site where the wedding will take place.

Then, just for kicks, we drove to nearby Kiawha Island Resort Community to eat lunch at the Ocean Course club, just to see how the rich folks live. (The answer – they live very well.) The Ocean Course is the most famous of the multiple courses on the island, and is one of just a few course in the country to host each of the PGA of America’s major championships: the Ryder Cup, the Senior PGA Championship, and the PGA Championship. It has a course rating of 79.1; I have no idea what that means nor how they measure it, but according to the United States Golf Association, it is the highest in the country. And it has been ranked as the toughest course in the country because of its slopes, bunkers, and challenging Bermuda grass. I was duly impressed, although I am a terrible golfer and I don’t need all ten fingers to count the number of times I have played an 18 hole golf course. But the views from the course were magnificent. I posted a picture of the 18th hole from where we sat for lunch, as well as a picture of the front of the clubhouse, with Sean and I standing by a statue of Pete Dye, the course designer, and perhaps the most well-known designer.

Later that night, we went out for a quick beer at a local bar – the same bar that sponsored a rescue dog adoption last November, where we adopted Madison. So we brought her with us and some of the people there recognized her. In the last picture I posted, the bar was playing the Macarena and Sean was trying to make her dance to the music.

The days are getting better!
